Co-Op Continues to Draw Members

Colchester, IL – More than a year after the idea was proposed, new customers continue to sign up with the West Prairie Water Cooperative. Board chairman George Dixon says dry weather has helped convince people with an uncertain water supply that tapping on will help their farms or homestead. The Coop will get its water from the Dallas Rural Water Cooperative to serve up to 230 customers in Chalmers and Tennessee townships. Dixon says adding the new customers will assure that there's enough cash flow to pay off the federal start-up loan. He says it will also allow the co-op to keep close to the estimated 25-dollars per month fee to cover debt payments. Purchased water will be added to that figure.
