Clean-up Planned for Saddle Club Property

Keokuk, IA – Keokuk plans to clean up a much-talked-about piece of city property that's for sale. In recent weeks, the large brick building on the land once occupied by the Keokuk Saddle Club has lost its roof and started to collaps. Public Works Director Bill Richards says people have also started to steal from the property and dump garbage there. Part of the lot is the proposed site of a Hampton Hotel, which has been in the works for more than one year. The city will pay for cleaning up the site with money from a TIF district, once hotel construction begins.
