City Looks To Stretch Its Boundaries

Macomb, IL – Macomb aldermen took action Tuesday night that won't immediately help the city but could prove beneficial down the road. The city council approved annexation agreements for three parcels of land along West Jackson Street. Once they're contiguous to the city they'll be annexed. Macomb is now working on annexation agreements with a few other property owners in that area. Mayor Mick Wisslead says once those are reached, a bunch of sites with annexation agreements will become contiguous and thus be added to Macomb. He says they could stretch the city limits to Ball Fore. The city would eventually benefit from this by increasing its population and adding to its tax base.
