Carthage to Try for TIF District
Carthage, IL – Carthage aldermen have directed the mayor to sign a contract with consultants to prepare an application for a Tax Increment Financing District. Mayor James Nightingale says the specific areas to be included are yet to be chosen, but they will include some in the industrial park area and some in the downtown district. He says the main goal is to construct or repair water and sewer lines. Nightingale says the paperwork will probably take six to eight months to complete before the council cn approve the application and forward it to the state.
