Canton, Mo. Man Accused of Killing Step-Father

The Lewis County (MO) Sheriff's Office announced Friday afternoon that it arrested Cody Wilson, 19, of Canton, Mo. for First Degree Murder. Wilson is accused of killing his step-father in their home Thursday night.

Deputies arrived at the home at about 10:15 p.m. to find David Brooks, 56, dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. An autopsy is pending.

The sheriff's office said its investigation revealed that Wilson shot his step-father with a large caliber handgun. Wilson is charged with armed criminal action in addition to the First Degree Murder charge.

The Sheriff's Office said Wilson is in the Lewis County Jail on a $1 million bond.
