Candidate Wants to be Voice for District

Quincy, IL – The woman picked to replace a veteran West Central Illinois lawmaker says she wants to be a voice for the entire region. Jil Tracy says her experience in the Illinois Attorney General's office, in small business, and as a wife, a mom, and an attorney, prepares her to represent the 93rd legislative district in Springfield. Republican leaders picked her to finish out the term of Representative Art Tenhouse (R-Liberty), who is retiring in July, and to appear on the November ballot. Tracy says she will work to make sure rural school districts receive the state funding they need to provide students with a quality education. She says Governor Rod Blagojevich's plan to lease the lottery to increase school funding is not the answer. Tracy says she will also work to improve the roads in the region, fight the spread of methamphetamine, and increase consumer protection in Illinois. Tracy was picked from a field of 5 candidates. She will face former Quincy mayor Chuck Scholz in the November election.
