Bushnell Revamps Emergency Planning

Bushnell, IL – Bushnell is changing the way it will prepare its emergency plans. ESDA Director Patricia Good resigned, citing other commitments. Mayor Steve Russell has changed the title of the position to ESDA Coordinator and named Deputy Clerk Mary Brown to the post. Russell says he, Brown and various department heads will meet to develop a new emergency plan for the town. Russell says the current plan is obsolete. He says it was tested during last month's severe storm and worked. However, it must to be more in-depth to handle larger or longer-duration emergencies. Russell says the current plan focuses on wind damage, but he wants to expand it to handle possible transportation spills. He says the elementary school and recreation center are being prepared as emergency shelters and have been wired to accept portable generator power.
