Bushnell Mayor Won't Seek Re-election

Bushnell voters won't see a familiar name on their ballots next April.

Mayor Steve Russell will not  seek another term. He spent a lot of time considering his decision.

He says, “I figured it's time for a new person to see what they can do for Bushnell.”

Russell wanted to give the Citizen's Party plenty of time to find a new candidate. He will have a hand in that selection. Russell will become the party's new chair. He is trying to recruit a full slate of candidates for next year's election. That means finding candidates for mayor, aldermanic seats, city clerk and city treasurer.

He made the announcement at this week's city council meeting.
