Burlington School Board Race Resolved

Burlington, IA – The close race for the final seat on the Burlington School Board has been decided. Incumbent Linda Garwood has claimed a 1 vote victory. Garwood was tied with newcomer, Tami Kramer, following Tuesday's school board elections. Des Moines County Elections Coordinator, Terri Johnson, says one ballot did not register Tuesday night, so it was added to Garwood's total during the official vote canvassing. If the vote had remained tied, after the canvassing, the board of supervisors would have drawn a name out of an hat. Johnson says there is a 3 day window, following the canvassing, to request a recount. Incumbent Don Harter and newcomer Denis Kuster earned the other two seats on the Burlington School Board.
