Burlington Police Investigating Death of BHS Student; Identity Released

The Burlington Police Department is saying little about the death of a teenager whose body was discovered late Wednesday night.  Kedarie Johnson, 16, was a student at Burlington High School.

The department said officers responded to the area of S. 4th Street and Walnut Street at 11:36 p.m. following a report of gunshots fired. They found Johnson's body in an alley off the 400 block of Walnut Street.

Major Dennis Kramer would not comment on how the teen died.

"We will not speculate on the manner and cause of death until all facts from the scene and the autopsy have been reviewed," said the BPD.  Kramer said, Friday afternoon, the autopsy was still underway in Iowa City.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Burlington Police Department.
