Emergency responders have recovered the body of a boater missing since Sunday afternoon in the Mississippi River near Lock & Dam 18. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said Christopher Corson, 33, of Burlington was found shortly before 11:30 A.M. Monday.
The agency said Corson was fishing in a 14' jon boat when it capsized under a roller dam. The other passenger in the boat, Anthony Zurmuehlen, 30, of Burlington, was able to work his way to shore after grabbing a log and other debris.
Zurmuehlen was discovered by a DNR Conservation officer. He was treated and released without injury from Great River Medical Center.
The DNR says neither Corson or Zurmuehlen were wearing life jackets when the boat capsized. The agency says the incident remains under investigation.
