Bar Owner Says Noise Will Be Reduced

Macomb, IL – The new owner of a Macomb bar says he will take steps to reduce noise from the establishment. Ransey Vazquez is in the process of trying to secure a liquor license for his bar "Detox." The place is currently called "The Dog Pound." A new liquor license is needed because the business changed hands. Neighbors have complained to the city council about the levels of noise from the bar, especially when live bands are playing. Vazquez told aldermen this week that steps are being taken to baffle the noise. The city council will decide next week whether to grant the liquor license. City code does not allow them to attach conditions, such as requiring installation of a fence or other noise-reduction materials.
