Aldermen Delay Decision on Development Proposal

Macomb, IL – Macomb aldermen will collect more information before deciding whether to approve plans for some new housing. Dave Linde's proposal calls for two duplexes and eight three-plexes to be built along an extension of Scotch Pine Drive on the city's southeast side. But people who live near the site told the city council this week that the engineer's plans for draining storm water from the land would create problems on their properties, such as swamping of water. Aldermen directed city staff to obtain a second engineer's opinion about the drainage issues. Council members want that task completed as quickly as possible so they can make a decision as soon as possible - perhaps by the end of the month.
