Abingdon Students Analyze Power Possibilities

Abingdon, IL – Abingdon students have been monitoring wind speeds at their school since last fall to see if they could install an effictive wind turbine. Now physics teacher Phil Willis says they're filing for a grant to see what it would take to form their own wind cooperative. He says the idea of a turbine just for their school has grown to a wind farm that could help cut the bills of several schools. He says students are analyzing power needs at 10 neighboring schools to see if turbines could offset most of the power needs.
