Sharon is the Director of Development, and her duties are to help Tri States Public Radio raise funds from individuals and businesses throughout the region, in an effort to help pay for the programs and activities of the media service. Sharon is a native of Dearborn Heights, Michigan. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Eastern Michigan University, Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa, and the Artist Diploma, from the College-Conservatory of Music, the University of Cincinnati. Sharon’s career in radio began as avid listener of public radio, having been a listener for many years in locations around the country. Being fond of public radio, Sharon jumped at the opportunity to join the staff of WIUM/WIUW. Prior to joining Tri States Public Radio, Sharon served as Director of Education at Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago; Administrative Director at the Southern Music Center in Columbus, Georgia; and also Director of the Creative Arts Program at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA. She has also held teaching posts at Shenandoah College-Conservatory of Music, Columbus College, and Knox College. In Sharon’s spare time she enjoys playing the oboe and being a member of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony Orchestra.
