West Prairie's Trip of a Lifetime

Colchester, IL / St. Louis, MO – Many young baseball players grow up watching their favorite teams on TV or listening to them on the radio. Many may hope to play in the big leagues one day.

Imagine the excitement on the faces of these young ballplayers when they learn they can play on the same stage as their idols.

That's the exact experience the West Prairie Cyclones got when they learned they'd be playing at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on April 29.

Playing Matchmaker to Help the Community

Macomb, IL – A Macomb-based matchmaker is preparing for a big event.

Volunteer Now! will hold its annual dinner and fundraiser Tuesday, May 11 at Wesley United Methodist Church. Tickets are $15. Doors will open at 5:30 and dinner will begin at 6:00. Raffle and silent auction items can be viewed before dinner.

Keokuk Will Wait To Rebuild Grand Avenue

Keokuk, IA – Keokuk was ready to rebuild 11 blocks of Grand Avenue (4th Street to 15th Street) this summer and fall. The project would have also included the replacement of sewer and water lines.

Keokuk borrowed about $3,400,000 for the project. The estimated cost came in at $3,170,786.50.

The city ran into a problem, though, when the bids came in much higher than anticipated.
