Rushville to Receive Low-Income Housing Grant

Rushville, IL – Rushville will soon receive more than two million dollars to build new housing for low to moderate income seniors. It'll also receive a few-hundred thousand dollars to make life-safety upgrades to existing homes.

Macomb, IL – Rich Egger's guest is Mindy Pheiffer, who is program coordinator for Horn Field Campus at Western Illinois University. They talk about the upcoming Sustainable Landscape and Garden Tour.

Tickets are $10. They allow people to visit seven gardens in Macomb from 9:00am to 12:00 noon on Saturday July 24. Some of the gardens will also include work by artists Matt Myers and Kelley Quinn.

Keokuk To Speed Up Grand Avenue Bids

Keokuk, IA – The Keokuk City Council was ready to rebuild Grand Avenue (4th - 15th Streets) earlier this year. The panel's sentiment changed, though, when the construction bids came in much higher than anticipated.

The council decided it would re-bid the project with revised specifications in an attempt to reduce construction costs. A bout of severe weather, this summer, then led to talk of delaying it so flood-damaged roads could be repaired.

Warsaw Superintendent Excited About Opportunity

Warsaw, IL – Dr. Doug DeSchepper has been in the field of education for 22 years.

He started out as a teacher in nearby Plymouth, IL. After ten years in the classroom, DeSchepper became a principal and a superintendent.

He most recently served as superintendent of the Durand School District, which is located near the Wisconsin/Illinois border.
