Keokuk's Mayor Says Town Moving In Right Direction

Keokuk, IA – Keokuk's mayor expects big things for the city in 2006. Mayor Dave Gudgel used his 5th State of the City address to tout Keokuk's accomplishments over the last 4 years and to look ahead to the future. He says new businesses, plant expansions, city beautification, and property development will have a major impact on Keokuk during 2006. Gudgel says Keokuk is on the path to become a leader in alternative energy and in shipping and transportation.

IDOT Plans Further 336 Corridor Hearings

Peoria, IL – The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold a series of hearings next month to seek comment on revised corridors for Route 336. The department has dropped some possible alignments and added others for the proposed highway between Macomb and Peoria. Engineer Scot LaSalle says the department will take the comments from the March hearings and return with what could be a final plan in about a year. Among the changes being suggested are a different intersection where the corridor meets with the proposed bypass on the east side of Macomb.
