Veterans' Day en New Program to Help Illinois Vets <p>Illinois Governor Pat Quinn announced a newly launched public-private partnership designed to improve services for Illinois veterans, military personnel and their families.</p><p>Quinn said&nbsp;<em> Illinois Joining Forces</em> will increase collaboration and make sure veterans find out about services available to them, such as health care and jobs programs.</p><p>"We cannot have our service members who fought in Baghdad or now in Kabul or elsewhere in Afghanistan -- they fought there, they shouldn't have to fight for a job when they come home," Quinn said.&nbsp;</p> Mon, 12 Nov 2012 15:54:42 +0000 Rich Egger 24282 at New Program to Help Illinois Vets Veterans Day in Keokuk <p></p><p>Sunday morning was not ideal for doing anything outdoors in Keokuk.</p><p></p><p>The sky was overcast, the temperature was dropping and the wind was whipping the flags throughout the Keokuk National Cemetery.</p><p>Mother Nature did not stop more than 70 people from leaving their homes and celebrating Veterans’ Day at the Keokuk Veterans’ Memorial.</p><p>The threat of rain led organizers to keep the proceedings short and sweet while still showing the proper respect and honor all veterans.</p> Mon, 12 Nov 2012 15:20:57 +0000 Jason Parrott 24281 at Veterans Day in Keokuk
