The full color publication was put together by the McDonough County Historical Society. The Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the GIS Center at Western Illinois University also helped with the project.</p><p>The Historical Society’s Gil Belles said people are interested in cemeteries for a variety of reasons.</p><p>“There are a lot of people who just love to go into cemeteries. The plot is along West Adams Street, just south of the Old Macomb Cemetery.<br /><br />Now that aldermen agreed during their June 18 meeting to accept the land, the McDonough County Historical Society can develop it into an entryway for the cemetery.<br /><br />President Gordana Rezab told aldermen the Historical Society has consulted with landscape specialists who suggested creation of a wooded area and a restored prairie.<br /> Wed, 20 Jun 2012 20:21:24 +0000 Rich Egger 17054 at Macomb Accepts Land Donation Emphasis - June 1 <p>Rich Egger&#39;s guest is Dr Gil Belles, who is being honored with the National Historic Preservation Medal from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.<br /><br />DAR&#39;s Dr Elizabeth Kaspar, Regent of the General Macomb Chapter, said Belles is only the second Illinois resident ever to receive the medal.
