Jan Lucie, Macomb resident, will present "I Owe My Life to Grocery Stores: Mining Camps in Colorado" Saturday July 14, 1:00 P.M. at New Copperfield's Book Service in Macomb.
Lucie is the granddaughter of a Colorado gold-seeker, who instead of turning shovels-full of dirt, became a grocer supplying food to Colorado gold miners.
Lucie heard her grandfather's stories of those times first-hand, remembers them well and will share a few, giving us a glimpse of the era.
The event is free and everyone is invited.
New Copperfield's Book Service is an independent, general interest bookstore on the north side of Macomb's historic downtown square, with books available in stock and by special order. The store carries a selection of general interest, children's books and educational toys, with special emphasis of local history, local music and local authors. The work of local artists and photographers is displayed in the Gallery.
